Hue is one of Vietnam’s most historic cities and the former imperial capital of the country. Sitting along the Perfume River, the city is best known for the Imperial City, royal tombs, pagodas and other reminders of Vietnam’s Nguyen Dynasty. But Hue isn’t just about history. It’s a relaxed, walkable city with great local food, beautiful riverfront scenery and plenty to explore in and around the city. I found Hue to be an easy place to spend a few days, and it also makes a great stop when traveling between Da Nang and destinations farther north in Vietnam.

Getting Around
Hue is a very walkable city, but Grab taxis are easy to find and use. You can also find cyclos (known locally in Vietnamese as xích lô, pronounced 'sick-low'). They are traditional three-wheeled bicycle rickshaws where the passenger sits in a large seat at the front, and the driver pedals from behind!
